In
a recent interview to a daily, Deepika Padukone has opened up about her
personal experience of having suffered from anxiety and depression. It's hard
for us fans to believe that our favourite stars, who have got it all, can also
have such everyday problems. But we often forget that at the end of the day
even these Bollywood actors are humans. In a media-frenzy Bollywood world,
where the tiniest things about a celeb are dissected in detail in public, the
woman has clearly shown solidarity and guts by admitting that she has suffered
from this problem in the past. She has also emphasized on the fact that people
often neglect this issue, and yet depression and anxiety are the deadliest
mental disorders.
Deepika spoke in detail about how her problem started and how
she eventually dealt with it. It was during the shooting of her movie Happy New
Year in 2014, that she realized that she has a problem. She went on to say that
after speaking to her mother, she sought professional medical help for the
issue. And despite being reluctant, took medication to sort out her problem.
She explained how most of the movie Happy New Year was shot while she was
suffering from this problem. She also said that depression is a mental
condition, and has got nothing to with how much the person has got it going for
him/her or not. The actress is currently working with her team to formulate a
plan and work on an initiative to spread awareness about this issue.
